Rehearsal space, new homes and public realm
This complex scheme involved developing new homes on a former factory site, creating new public realm and significant improvements to the rehearsal rooms of the National Youth Theatre.
The design team worked closely with the NYT to develop proposals which would sustain the organisation’s expansion. We held a public event on site where we discussed our initial proposals with local residents and business tenants together with representatives from the NYT. We made it a priority to engage with residents on a neighbouring council estate, holding a dedicated consultation event for them which was publicised by a ‘knock & drop’ exercise by our fieldwork team. Following these events, we took our ever evolving plans to show our local councillors and key stakeholders at one-to-one meetings.
